I am just preparing to drive myself over to Bubonicon 39. I’m hoping to hook up with Mike Bateman and Carrie Vaughn, and I’ve been reliably informed that Warren Hammond will be there too.
My programming for the con looks like:
Friday 5pm Panel
The Outsiders: Mainstream Authors Who Dabble in Genre
Daniel Abraham, S.C. Butler, Suzy M. Charnas, Pati Nagle. Moderator: John Maddox Roberts
Saturday 3pm Mass Signing
Saturday 12:30 Reading
Probably from a Secret New Project. Heh heh heh….
Saturday 6:30 Panel
Magic as Arts & Crafts: Spells Made Solid
Stephen R. Donaldson, Merk Ferrari, Sally Gwylan, John Lambert, Ian Tregillis. Moderator: Daniel Abraham
For those who are interested, Hunter’s Run (the collaboration that was once called Shadow Twin) has been reviewed.
So there’s the other blog where I’m ranting about Carol Lloyd ranting about Danica McKellar.
Your friend and mine Jay over at Fantasybookspot has a few copies of A Shadow in Summer and A Betrayal in Winter that he’s giving out.
He’s made some rumblings that suggest he didn’t like this one s much as the last, though I don’t know what his objections are precisely. But, like they say, teach the controversy.
So until Jay gets a chance to give the down side, I’ll point out what the folks at BookPage said…
In case you’re interested in looking at A Betrayal in Winter before you run out and buy it, I’ve put up the first bit.
There’s a long discussion to be had about hooks — Betrayal has what I’d call a slow hook — but it’s late, so I’ll save it for another night.
Want to own A Betrayal in Winter, but you don’t want to buy it?
Pat’s Fantasy Hotlist is running a drawing for a couple copies. There are also rumors that we may arrange a interview of sorts within the next few weeks. I’ll keep you posted.
