The Vampire of Kabul and other reports

by Daniel Abraham

Oh, many, many cool things going on, several of which I should be doing instead of blogging, but you know how it goes, right?

The new Balfour and Meriwether short story is up at Subterranean magazine along with a very nice review of Leviathan Wakes.  I’ve just gotten the go-ahead on an article for io9 about Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale that I’ve wanted to write since I first read the book decades ago.  There are book contract conversations mulling and roiling about which I can give no information yet, but it will come, it will come.  There are strange and unsubstantiated rumors about which I cannot yet comment involving strange purchases of certain volumes.  I’ve just finished an interview by my old friend Emily Mah for Black Gate which should be up sometime in the next month or so.  And I’ve been invited to be the weekend speaker at this year’s Taos Toolbox.  And my Darling Wife is testing for her next belt tomorrow.

And how’s the world been treating you?

  1. Good grief, man, stop with the teasing! I keep checking back for updates on all the pending coolness only to be teased once again. 🙂

    • I’m waiting for a couple of things to be signed, after which I will talk at great length about everything I can talk about. Well, not everything. I could talk quite a bit about grammar and why exactly I think etiquette and martial arts are related skills, for instance. But I won’t. I’ll just stop the tease. 🙂

  2. Martial arts… and etiquette?! Whoa… Now you gotta tell us.

  3. I have just listened AGAIN to the podcast version of “Balfour and Merriwether in the Adventure of the Emperor’s Vengeance,” one of the coolest short stories I have ever heard. Imagine my delight in finding that there’s a *NEW* Balfour and Merriwether story out. Can’t wait to read it. Is there an anthology of B & M stories anywhere? The last time I visited this blog several months ago, you hinted that a novel featuring B & M was in the works. I would buy either of those items in a heartbeat.
