James SA Corey’s West Coast Book Tour

by Daniel Abraham

So the fine folks at Orbit are sending us out on a short tour about when Cibola Burn hits shelves.  The gigs we’ve got so far look like this:

Book 4 of The Expanse, still with great cover art because Daniel Dociu continues to rock.

Wednesday, June 18th 7 PM: Tattered Cover Highlands Ranch (Denver, CO)

Thursday, June 19th  7 PM: Powell’s Cedar Hills Crossing (Portland, OR)

Friday, June 20th  7 PM: Mysterious Galaxy (San Diego, CA)

Saturday, June 21st  3 PM: Borderlands (San Francisco, CA)

Sunday, June 22nd  3 PM: Elliott Bay Book Company (Seattle, WA)

We’re also looking at adding a gig in Los Angeles in here somewhere, but that hasn’t been nailed down yet.   And there’s going to be a signing in July at Page One Books in Albuquerque.

We’re also going to be at the Phoenix Comicon June 5th – 8th, and we’re likely to hit SDCC, but more information about that as it develops.

AND we’re going to be Guests of Honor at Milehicon in Denver this October (along with Michael Swanwick and Kaja & Phil Foglio).

If you are anywhere near any of these gigs we would love to see you, your friends, your co-workers.  Pretty much anyone.  Seriously, there’s nothing as dismal as a book signing with no one there but us.  And if we’re not coming to your neighborhood this time — like if you’re anywhere in the eastern half of the United States, for example, the fine folks at Orbit will be putting together a contest of some sort to send out signed bookplates, which I’ll tell you more about when I know it.

Also, many of those bookstores may ship books, so if you wanted to order some from there, we’d sign and personalize them for you.

  1. Is there an East Coast visit in the works some time in the remainder of 2014?

  2. Oh, please come to LA if possible. If not, I might very well make the drive down to SD.

    • It looks like we’re going to be there working on the show, so it’s more a question of setting up the venue. Our fairly brilliant publicist at Orbit is working stuff out.

      • Oh, goody! I’d love to get all my copies of all the James SA Corey books signed 🙂

How does that work, anyway? Do you both sign as “yourself” or can each one of you be deputized to represent Mr. Corey?

Bummed about Amazon not doing the pre-order thing. I guess I’ll have to schlep to an actual bookstore to pick up the book in a few weeks??

  3. Fantastic! I’m really happy that you’ll be coming to Seattle. Leviathan Wakes was one of the best reads I’ve ever had, and I’ve enjoyed the followups as well. I’ll see you there.

  4. So glad you’re coming to Borderlands. They are a fantastic local resource for SF/F and very nice people. Can’t wait to see you!

  5. Hopefully after the tv series comes out and you two are famous orbit will send you on a national book tour and ill see you in the dc area.

  6. Any stops in AZ planned for the future?

  7. For all its great attributes Minneapolis is so very devoid of author signings, guess I’ll grab my signed copy through one of the stores you’re swing by, also it looks like Ciloba Burn is coming out in hardcover? Is there a chance the earlier books might also get a hardcover printing?

  8. I guess you won’t be stoping anywhere near Europe in the distant future? Just can’t wait for the Cibola Burn, I just love the Expanse series and with books coming in june I had always treated myself with the new book for the end of a semester, thank you! 🙂

  9. Thanks to both of you for such a rewarding conversation in Denver. I really enjoyed it, although like you, I would have loved to see more folks. Here’s to this year being the beginning of the end of small meetings with quiet fans. Next time you may have people screaming your name and showing their tattoos of Bobbi, Holden, and the Rocinante.
